An early project from my design school days.  The focus was to pick a social issue that we found interesting or close to.  Being hispanic, I zeroed in on Arizona the racially profiling the state was trying to make legal at the time.

The idea came quickly once I began to think about all my travels to the Western U.S., and the big state signs that welcomed you…

The one sketch, out of many, that finally set the idea for the poster design.

But I kept thinking about how those highway signs greet you at the border line. It couldn’t just be a graphically drawn image, It need to feel real.  I needed that setting of seeing the beautiful state in the distance with that wonderful welcoming message.
